Data Warehouse Cost Calculator

Model BigQuery/Snowflake/Redshift savings with billing-mode-aware gates: scan reduction, rightsizing, auto-suspend, retention, commitment. Published-list estimate only. The math runs in your browser — your numbers never leave this page.

Decision guidance

Data warehouse billing decisions this calculator can test

This model separates query scanning, provisioned or credit-based compute, storage, idle time, retention, and commitments for BigQuery, Snowflake, and Redshift. Every optimization is tested against the meter that the selected billing mode actually charges.

Questions it answers

  • Does reducing scanned terabytes lower an on-demand query bill, or is the warehouse billed for committed capacity or compute time?
  • Will auto-suspend remove additional idle cost, or does the selected warehouse already suspend automatically?
  • How far can retention be reduced without crossing a required governance or recovery floor?

When it returns zero or refuses a claim

  • Scan reduction returns zero under capacity and compute-time billing because bytes scanned are not the charged meter.
  • Turning on auto-suspend returns zero when the selected mode already suspends idle compute.
  • Retention is clamped to the required minimum, and an unknown warehouse, billing mode, or size suppresses the total.

Verify against your invoice

  • Identify whether each workload is billed per TB scanned, by slot or capacity commitment, by credits, or by node or serverless compute time.
  • Reconcile compute hours, warehouse size, node count, query TB, and storage TB to separate invoice lines.
  • Review idle intervals and required retention with the data owner before treating the modeled change as operationally available.
