Cloud Storage Cost Calculator

Model storage-class transitions with retrieval and early-deletion charges netted in. Request, lifecycle-transition, and network-egress charges are not modeled. Published-list estimate only. The math runs in your browser — your numbers never leave this page.

Decision guidance

Cloud storage lifecycle decisions this calculator can test

This calculator compares S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Storage classes by netting storage-rate reductions against retrieval charges, minimum-storage-duration penalties, and optional restore volume. A colder class is not assumed to be cheaper for the way the data is actually accessed.

Questions it answers

  • Will a lower storage rate still save money after monthly retrieval volume is charged?
  • Does the expected object lifetime satisfy the target class minimum, or will early deletion create a penalty?
  • What will a planned restore or recall cost before archived data is moved?

When it returns zero or refuses a claim

  • An unknown provider or storage class suppresses the estimate rather than guessing a rate.
  • When retrieval and minimum-retention costs exceed the storage-rate reduction, the result is negative and says the transition is not worthwhile.
  • Restore charges are shown separately so a one-time recovery event is not hidden inside a recurring monthly saving.

Verify against your invoice

  • Match stored GB-month by current class, not logical dataset size, across S3, Blob Storage, or Cloud Storage billing exports.
  • Measure retrieval GB and typical object age; both are required to price a lifecycle transition honestly.
  • Check the provider's minimum storage duration and retrieval schedule for the exact region and class before applying a policy.
